About The Club

Philosophy

Having a dog in your life should be a good experience for you, your household and for the dog! Dogs are pack animals and therefore are happiest when they understand the rules they have to live by - who is the boss, what is acceptable and that good behaviour will be rewarded. Our philosophy is to help you learn how to be the leader of the pack and give you the skills to make sure your dog understands the rules and the commands. Dogs coming when they are called, waiting for the next command and looking you in the eye with anticipation are all signs that they are responding and that you have a good relationship with your dog. We cater for behavioural problems and provide support for owners of more challenging dogs. Whether you want to compete for prizes or just have fun, our instructors will help you and guide you. Remember, a well trained dog is a happy dog!

Short History

Over many years BCDTS has operated in the South East of Melbourne providing a relaxed and fun approach to training and managing dogs (and their owners). A not for profit organisation, the club has consistently raised significant sums of money through its modest membership fees to provide vital equipment for local groups and organisations, from children to older people. More recently a strong relationship with the Save-a-Dog organisation has seen many members of the club volunteering their time in providing homes for dogs of all shapes and sizes. All the instructors give their time voluntarily, and many of the instructors have been recognised by the City of Glen Eira for their contribution to the community by a Community Service Award.
